Ok, ok, so Ive been pretty terrible at updating the blog since …I want to say August 2013. I’d like to start fresh and start 2014 on the right foot by updating my fans as I go.

But before I post the new 2014 cakes, I’d like to play a little catch up and show you some of the cakes and/or cupcakes from last year that never made it on here:

Sonic cake November 10, 2013

Filed under: Cakes — Connie @ 5:25 am

I’ll be honest, at first, I had no clue what to do… Sonic was popular when I was about 12 years old.. Has sonic the blue hedgehog made a comeback ? Nope, not it at all.. Somehow my then 5 yr old caught me playing sonic on my phone, and the rest is history.

Once the ideas started flowing, it all came together pretty well if I may say so myself!

I had Sonic invitations made from an Etsy provider

Had this totally awesome cover page for a colouring book (printed free on line colouring pages) made by our super talented animator friend Liam

Found these water bottles on line

Threw in some Halloween candy and ring pops since Sonic is the keeper of the ring, and voila the loot bag

Next was the cake – no, I did not make Sonic and Tails, but turned out pretty cute anyhow

The birthday boy totally loved it and so did all his little friends! Happy 6th birthday my sweet little big boy!

Zebra and pink baby bump cake

Filed under: Cakes — Connie @ 4:41 am

Another cake that I’ve really loved doing and have had a lot of positive response from is the Baby Bump Baby Shower cake! It is just so fun and let’s be honest absolutely looks adorable!

As requested hot pink and zebra print. I made the belly portion with the Wilton soccer ball pan, and the upper part with 4 in “ball” pans. I made cupcakes to match the theme as well.

Leah, I am so excited for you and your soon to be expected little princess ! Congrats once again!

Polka dot and pinwheel cake July 19, 2013

Filed under: Cakes — Connie @ 3:06 am

I LOVE how this cake turned out! This cake was for a little boy, Evan, who turned 1 last weekend.

I also love polka dots, it’s a well known fact, and I pin wheels – something about that screams “happy”- I’m also obsessed with lime green and aqua blue colour combination. So, when I was asked to make a cake to match this super cute first birthday invitation, I was delighted:

It’s always nice to design a cake that you love yourself or one that I can see making for my boys. I was also asked to make 48 mini cupcakes to match the theme.

Et voila:

I loved making this cake and was pleased that so did little Evan and his parents. This is what Evan’s mom said:

Hi Connie ,

I just wanted to send you a big thank you for the amazing cake and cupcakes. You exceeded my expectations. The cake wasn’t only beautiful but it was super moist and delicious too. All of our guests were thrilled with it as was the birthday boy.

I’ve attached a couple of pictures of Evan enjoying his cake.

Thanks again for the wonderful cake that will be part of our memories for a long time.

Happy birthday little man !

Butterfly cake July 4, 2013

I was delighted when i was asked to make Brianne’s 3rd birthday cake this past weekend. This would be my third cake for the little Miss, and I am always so excited to see what the birthday theme will be.

This year, I was asked to make a girly butterfly 2 tier vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream icing. I wanted it to be a little bit different than just the butterflies and decided to incorporate my fascination with polka dots as well.

This is the final product:

I also received this super nice e-mail from Brianne’s mommy i thought i’d share: “Thank you so much once again for delivering such an amazing birthday
cake. Everyone commented on how beautiful the cake was and even though
you don’t love the baking part of cake-making, it sure is worth it
because everyone thought the cake was delicious and I couldn’t agree
more. And of course, the birthday girl was thrilled to have a
butterfly cake! Here are a few pictures.”
